Dodgy gear box = no WOF

Post by Bubba »

My local mechanic told me that there's something up with my gearbox and it slamming it into gear to hard. This has caused the flexi thingi on the exhaust (can't remember what it's called) to split.

What could I be looking at?

From what he was saying it sounded like it just needed adjusting

Oh, it's 2.7TD

I'm looking for real cheap options here guys

Also how much for a front sway bar? I will do that myself

Its an auto? In Chch theres a crowd called Aceomatic Automatics who do free road tests then tell you whats wrong. Heard good things about their skills too, so I'd probably trust what they said

With my wee subaru, when first gear was banging in, it was 'cos it was totally stuffed... but some autos are adjustable between soft and hard gearchanges I think so all may not be lost

My take on autos are that they are pretty much white mans magic :P So I always ask someone else... I'd recommend you find somewhere that will road test it for you and tell you whats wrong. Could be adjustment, could be worse...

Good luck
