Evening all

hoping someone can help me out i want to fit a 2 inch body lift to my kzn130 surf. wondering how difficult it is to do at home (have access to any tools needed, within reason) and what kits are good and good price, also if its not to hard how many body mounts are there and where are they? is there anything else i need to consider.

Am about to do this myself, need to watch brake lines, fuel fill line and maybe steering shaft. Raise it only to what you need to fit spacers, do it slowly.

great sounding like its pretty straghit forward. just another thing about the cert.... cost, who, problem etc?

My WOF guy is a 4x4 guy and said he would not be fussed by it as long I use grade 8 bolts, talk to your guy and see what he says

im going to be looking into this in the very near future...does it effect the auto trans lever?
and does the radiator have to be moved down ?

I recently fifted my KZN130 myself
Was a relativily easy job.
Dont buy a kit....just buy the bits you need .
Blacks Fasteners can supply the UHMWPE rod you need & also the bolts.
The blots cost me about $45 & cant remember how much it was for the rod.
If the hardest part was making the sterring shaft hole in the firewall a little bigger to allow for the diff angle of the shaft & also filing the hi/low ratio lever slot a little longer.

The auto lever wont move....you simply undo the bolt on the lever underneath....then when youve done the lift do it back up.

I moved my radiator down 50mm to line up with the fan shroud..if you dont it will foul.

so far so good sounds like its not to big a hassle, and just another thing with this is about the cert? how much is it difficult to get who does it in the chch area, i know some WOF places dont worry about it but depending on cost would like to get it done.

There is some debate as to if you need one or not.
There isnt a specific mention of bodylifts in the LVVTA rules.
In a letter that went out sometime ago it said "certification may be required"
Ive not had a warrant done since ive done mine...guess time will tell.

thanks will give him a call monday, next part to my wee project is tyre size? with body lift 33's? or 32? i have new springs in the back and torsion bars up a bit in front but dont think its 2inch lift maybe one inch hard to say as she was a bit saggy when i got her. thoughts?

just had a mate say how do you get to the nuts? so how do i get to the nuts?

Cert will cost you $400. I have BL'ed every 4WD i have owned and never had an issue getting WOF's. I wouldn't worry about it until you have enough mods done to warrant getting a cert.
It will cost you $400 each time you want to get a cert for anything from Wayne, so why not do all the bits that will squeak through a WOF and then get all the other stuff sorted and get it certed all in one go.
My 2c anyway.

never mind been looking this morning fount the nuts and bolds everywhere what kits to people reccomend and what size tyres are my last questions.

never mind found the bolts etc. just one final question is size tyres i could fit with the body lift? 32 or 33? i have new springs in the back and wound up torsion bars but dont seem like 2inch suspension lift maybe an inch but in my mind 2inch body lift plus 1 inch suspension lift should be sweet for some 33? or do i need new shocks and maybe some blocks in rear springs? and what kits anyone reccomends?

Hi, As per this post below you dont need to buy a kit as they cost a shite load and you can easily make the blocks yourself.

Get the UHMWPE rod and cut it to the 2 inch (50mm) height that you want and even if you are not confident on getting the blocks cut correctly and the center holes drilled you could give a local engineer a box of piss and im sure they could help

Then its just buying the 8.8 bolts at the required length and use good thick washers etc

And i think you could get 33's under it but dont quote me on that as the surf guys will know more, Even it requires a little more effort and trimming of bits and peices to get the 33's on over 32's its worth it and usually 32's are dearer than the larger 33's anyway.

ok so make my own kit then where can i get all the bits for anyone who has done it them selves? and links or contacts would be great. costs? and for anyone who has done this to a surf any ideas on tyres hoope i can get 33 but would settle for 32 if caused to much hassle lookin at khumo kl71's any other ideas on this side of things? how do they stack up on road eg handling and milage.

33's will fit with jst a 2 inch body lift. you will have a little rub on the fire wall at full lock / full compression, but a BFH will sort most of that.

have a good look at the clutch line by the starter motor if its a manual . it will get stretched alot.

Fuel Filler pipe, Hand-break cables , Break lines , gear stick boots, rear diff break line, all will be tight and should be tweaked a little.

Front bumper corners , Front mud guards , rear mud guards may have to be removed .

Radiator will have to be dropped to line up with the fan properly or the shroud cut-up to fit.

Front bumper has to be lifted to line up with body lift.

Power steering pipes , vacuum lines for front diff, battery / starter cables in engine bay need to be loosened off and moved to avoid steering shaft.

Steering shaft boot will contact inner guard. Steering shaft should have a spacer installed or lengthened as slipping all the splines does not leave enough contact surface for a safe steering setup.
Fire wall steering shaft seal needs to be modified to stop it chewing out with new shaft angle.

Thats all i can think of for know. as others have said do it slowly on dead flat ground and make sure it all lines up square
And legally body lifts should be certed

Im running Kuhmo KL71 s 32/11.5 x 15 & have no rubbing issues

its an auto if that changes much this link seemed to make it all seem pretty straghit forward any thoughts?

Buy the bits & go for it....what city are you in ?

chch, only other this is cant afford new tyres at this stage so will look like a bit of a twit with the body lift and my 31 gt radial savero at plus lol so maybe get parts and wait a month or two do the lot in one hit. and also want the snorkel so $$$ adding up pretty quick.

Thats exactly what i did....got bits as finances allowed...no hurry.
I used to have savero's on my hilux..i found them real good..took me all sorts of places.

Thats mine with a 2 inch body lift, and the 2 inch OME kit, Heaps of room on 33x12.5`s 1 inch shouldnt be that much difference.

Youll need 10 bolts & nyloc nuts.
10 x 50mm UHMWPE blocks 60mm in diameter.
I have a spare set of new bolts & nylocs you can have for cost ( exact same size i used when i did my lift)

so you got a spare set of everything i need? how much?

only got bolts....i brought an extra set incase i screwed up the lengths i needed.
There is a plasticsplace tha will cut them to length & drill the holes in the UHMWPE for you but at asmall extra charge ..ill see ifi can find them for you
