sj413 tow hook help

Post by dean zuk »

Hi guys,

Just got myself a sj413 and started shopping for all the gear to go along with it. Got the snatch rope, shackles and tow hooks.

Now my problem; i have no idea how to mount them!

Any pointers as to the best way/place would be a great help as i have no idea when it comes to metalworking etc

Cheers
Dean

ok well i have seen them mounted on top of the chassis rain but they tend to bend the chassis unless you put a bit of 10mm plate on top of chassis. is the zuke stock ie no bars front and rear? if not take a picture and post it up so people can give you some pointers knowing what your faced with. i welded a bracket on to mine but not everyone has the means to do so. hope this helps a little.

Sorry theres nothing at the front other than the bullbar, including a front bumper, at the back i have a towbar that im planning on mounting the hooks to the side of, ie on the vertical part straight down from the mounts, will take a photo of that as well.

Btw how do you upload photos??? cant find instructions no matter how hard i try

Thanks
Dean

upload your pics to photo bucket then use the IMG tags, make sure you resize the pics first to 640x480.

and if you cut the tow bar a bit short, remove the ball and mount the hook on the horizontal part of the tow bar. It works on vitara's and escudo's so why not a sj?

Haha yes i do use the tow bar on occasion. Went to a tow bar place today and they said they could make up a piece of angle iron to bolt it to, although he was looking at the right hand side when he had the plan so don't know if he noticed the steering box on the other side where he was going to bolt it on. He also said they couldn't weld a plate to the top of the chassis as Wof people don't like it? He also said my bullbar should fail a wof due to one of the mounts being welded to the chassis. Anyone heard of this before?

So i now have more questions than i started with!!
If people could post any photos they have of their set up it would be a great help so i can ask a place to copy it etc

Thanks for the help
