Where in chch is the best place to get a prs aerial thats decent and has a spring on it. The dicksmith ones are ok but they dont have a spring on the bottom and dont last long

Have got some short stubby flexible 3db gain antenna's in stock, these are ground plane independent which means you can mount them a lot of places. No antenna is immune to tree hits (went thru 3 of the DSE ones on my old LJ71). with this type of antenna you can mount it in a tree protected area, and further protect it by adding a sacrificial layer of heat tube to the outside of it.

have got other types, including spring mounts as well

Hey Jerry

I am sticking my old CB back in the new build along with the t200 so i will need a 27mghz aerial as well. Would like one that is high gain and as short as possible. Do you have any of those?

The spring can be added to any of the ones that screw off the base ...
You may need to re-tune the antenna after fitting

I am not sure if the "Ground plane independent" ones screw off the base

I have them on all of mine and I have not broken one yet but I think that if you hit the aerial hard/ fast enough the spring wont help

The bumper mount is a compromise between performance verse aerial life as the best place to mount them is as high as possible
With any mount below the roof line the vehicle masks the signal.
This is more of an issue as the distance between radios increases.
There is no mechanical problem so difficult that it cannot be solved by brute strength and ignorance.

Yep they do just like the others  , these are commercial antennas designed for trucks etc,
