G16a into SJ410

Post by Chops4wd »

Has anybody done this conversion before? Im have an escudo with a G16a (i think thats the motor code from memory) the truck it self is untidy but the motor has been rebuilt and to good for the truck haha, I also have a mint 410 flatdeck that im slowley turning into a club truck it is still road legal and plan on keeping it that way. My questions are has anyone done this before and if so was there any major difficulties? Any tips to make the conversion succesful? Would I have to move the transfer case back at all? What gearbox should I use? Was thinking either 413 5spd or stick with the auto that is already on the G16a. Cheers in advance for any advice!

PM Ben (ore username). He does adaptor kits to fit G16A to 413 gearbox. I used one in my old Samurai - heaps of power!

Also search the Suzuki forums - lots on this conversion.

Yep, I do adaptor kits to fit a G16 motor up to a G13 gearbox, but a 410 is different again.

You could adapt the G16 to a SJ413 / Samurai gearbox with my kit, but you would still have to modify the engine mounts on the chassis and the gearbox crossmember, as they are different to a SJ413.
The transfer case can stay where it is.

Other option is to keep the Vitara auto, remove the transfer case and fit a tailshaft adaptor, and run a jack shaft to the std transfer case. This will require panel work to make the transmission tunnel bigger though. You'd also still have to modify / fabricate engine and gearbox mounts.
