Turbo oil drain question

I have just fitted a turbo to my Nissan and getting a little oil feed back to the turbo, I think the oil drain I put to the sump maybe too low , About 1/12" from the top of the sump.
At times It's great then for what seems no reason I get a mixture of blue and white smoke, I have increased the fuel by 3/4 of a turn and the turbo is top mounted RX7 turbo and has trebled my power no longer do I have a slug of a 4.2 auto.
To save a lot of stuffing about is it possible to swap the return lines over, Put the turbo return line to where the alternator oil return line go's then it would be going direct into the block and the alternator return line to the sump because to my way of thinking it would not matter if there was a little oil feed back to the alternator bearings.
Or will the sump have to come off and shift the turbo oil return line as high as possible???
