Hey guys,

Just wanting to know where would be the best place to install a boost guage. I have had a look in the engine bay and nothing has really jumped out to me.

Any help out be great.

i would suggest not putting the boost gauge under the bonnet

on the steering colum maybe?

Do you mean mounting the guage, or how to "plumb" it up?

also if someone could let me know which vaccuum lines i need to tap into for my battery voltage gauge that would be great

Sorry I should have explained I need somewhere to plumb it into The guage is mounted on the pillar and the vac line is just sitting there waiting to get plumbed in.

use a paper clip to connect to the blue vac hose on the back of the starter motor. then hold the positive wire from the alternator between your teeth and crank her over.

Sorry I should have explained I need somewhere to plumb it into The guage is mounted on the pillar and the vac line is just sitting there waiting to get plumbed in.

Ideally somewhere on the inlet manifold (is the most accurate), but otherwise anywhere between the turbo and the inlet manifold. On my 80 i just teed off the factory led boost lights, but im not sure if a nissan has one?

Batteries only experience vacuum while sucking electricity from the alternator during charge via the negative (vacuum) terminal.

You are better off tapping into the +'ve (pressure) terminal or hose.

the above is only true for Japanese systems, British Lucas electrical items use a different system called smoke, if the Lucas product fails then the propellant, smoke, escapes, which indicates a problem, once the smoke has escaped the Lucas item is usually toast.

Mine was origionally a non turbo engine and there is no boost light or anything like that i think.
