Now don't laugh but i've been looking at buying one of these things for a little while now. My current Escudo is getting a bit tired these days (its just ticked over 306k ) The Terios would see on road use only. I do 90k a day 5 days a week mostly at open road speed.

Is the Terios quite happy to sit on 100kph? Are they a comfortable ride for what they are? I'm gussing fuel consumption is not all that high either.. I've haven't heard anything bad about them when it comes to reliability..

I'm looking at approximatly 2001 model (with the white dail gauges and twin cam engine with 5spd transmission).

Any info would be welcome!

Could look at a Suzuki Jimny as well as a runabout.....

Mrs had one for close to a year,

Had Some good points and a few bad ones

They are great little wagons super economic around town and in heavy stop start traffic , if you do a lot of open road 100 kph stuff though we found that they wernt overly economic due to their high revs @ 100kph (My wifes returned about the same fuel ecconomy as a 1800 on open road driving) and 100-105 is about as comfortable "safe" speed as you would want to drive one of these, 90kph seems to be their "sweet spot" drives really nicely at that speed, any higher road noise increases a fair bit as does the sewing machine sound coming from the front

tend to get blown around a bit in high winds due to being high and narrow, have to be pretty friendly with your passengers if two or more pile into it

motors are reliable and have no known issues, offroad (gasp yes they can do that too) yould be surprised where the Mrs took hers, with the center difflock engaged and halfway good gound clearance and ultra low first she could get hers down some pretty rough rutted farm tracks, hers also did the baileys to Potu run (70ks of beach driving) a couple of times.

all in all an under rated little "car" that is great around town and for the odd "4x4" picnic down the beach ...... sustained long distance driving ... dunno, wouldnt want to drive one much further than 160k's at a stretch.

I'm still fairly keen on one but the point you make about the side winds is not something i've thought about... Narrow track and being relativley tall aren't such a good combination....

Hmmm i could go and buy something like a Terrano or a Surf but there just so dull....

Ladas arent dull and almost as wide as they are long!

I guess a daihatsu terios was a good vehicle, provided that you would mod it all out with some good daihatsu parts and accessories. From the things that I've read here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daihatsu_Terios), it seems to be good. I just hope that it would be good and well in the long run.
