its a GU chassis built up with ute tray imported from japan. Set up as a very capable vehicle for off road. also had a shortened flat deck tray that was swapped over for off road use.

Have a look at it closely and you will see the body lines don't match so it isn't factory. (and never seen or heard of a factory Patrol wellside either)

personally i dont like it, looks like a scruffy mismatch of parts, i am sure most of the builders amounst us on here could build a better truck for $30k. i realise it has its age and kms which give it its value. if i had $30k kicking arond it wouldnt be my choice.

Thats easy to say if you start with a $5000 truck and have $25k to spare though.
How about starting with a standard truck the same value as a GU ute and see what $30k get you

Happy to be proven wrong but another picture with similar looking wellside doesn't mean it is factory.
And I still say the body lines don't continue on that one either. Have a look at the crease in the door and you can see what I mean. Not to mention that the sill doesn't continue through to the wellside.
If it is factory then Nissan dropped their standards in design a shite load!

I am heading back to PNG tomorrow. I will take and post some photos of the factory wellsides once I am there. I agree with you; Nissan did drop the ball with the design of the wellside.

It is a factory wellside. They were available in South Africa and United Arab Emerates also.

While it does seem a little expensive, you need to remember this truck was built in 2005 and has done very little work (i.e. 2yrs comp and farm work since). Runs factory TD42-T engine, aftermarket turbo, modified fuel pump (first person in NZ to do it), top-mount intercooler etc. Fibreglass doors and guards(from JT Fibreglass in Melbourne) and carbon-fibre/kevlar bonnet.

Also has full 6-point rollcage, race seats and harness. PTO driven / hydraulic powered 8274 winch.

Totally different trucks, so a little hard to make a comparison, but you certainly get alot of truck if you buy Donalds'!!

Yup, and if I hadn't seen it for myself I would have said it was made for another truck. But the filler for the fuel sub-tank all match up perfectly and the insignia / signwriting etc confirms it.

The sides end up being quite high, and some of the dogs struggle to jump up on it. But once on, they hang on for grim death because they know Michael won't be stopping for them.

Agreed, Donalds truck is a bargain at that price considering what has gone into it, hmm, now if only someone will buy my jetsprint boat.

Yup, Kym did Russia back in 2007, in that Mitsubishi FUSO based truck that his wife was driving around at OBC 2006.

Reading that link Jeremy posted up is a good way to kill half a day! 8)
