radiator cap on escudo

Post by wildplumdx »

ok so when my escudo is cold i pump the top hose and you can hear air by passing the over flow but visually the cap looks in great nic seals all how they should be etc, so when he vehicle is running it blows all the coolant out and starts to collapse the top hose ? signs of a bung cap ?

Yup, sounds like a soft spring. Also double check that you have the right cap fitted, they come with the seals at a few different depths. Good luck!

well i worked it out it was the radiator neck coz its plastic it must have worn down like the part where the cap screws on so i bent the rad caps tongues the two flaps that pull down on the thread and bang seals now! but now u say they come with seals different thickness maybe that what it was ? but thern again i tried every brand new cap listed for it at repco and nothing worked the old cap was fine all along, was the radiator worn out abit i guess

Yeah, that's a interesting one, the radiator cap is usually not removed very often, so nothing usually wears out on the mounting or sealing surfaces. Anyway, as long as youve got it sorted! Just keep an eye on the temp as you go!
