Good Exhaust Shop In North Auckland - Takapuna Mufflers?

Hey all,
This is my first post, but have been reading the forums for a while.
I live in north Auckland, and am looking for a good exhaust shop to build me a 2.5" mandrel bent system.
I've seen some good things about Papakura Mufflers, and many trials trucks have their stickers on the windshield, so will go there if there's nothing closer.
Anyone had experience with Takapuna Mufflers? Listed in yellowpages for mandrel exhausts & 4wds.
Cheers,
Andy.

Welcome.
PM heath. He had a good experience on the shore lately with a exhaust for his prado. Or search his build thread.

No worries,
I might go talk to A1 exhausts, theyre much closer to home and gave you a reasonable price (Heath).
If anyone has used these guys before, I'd like to know how it went.
Cheers.

I've been to Al's for a piece of stainless to be made up, but the cost was way over the top...
I might go to Al's and A1, talk to each and get approx prices though.
Thanks for replies

Rang Al's out of curiosity and they are about 850-900 for a system from the turbo back (3 inch mandrel and new dump pipe - braced to G-box to stop cracking too), so they are in the ballpark too for price.
Just got to fail it in the Wof so I "have to get a new one"

I'm going with A1 Exhausts, will let you know how it goes.
Guy seems really knowledgable and cool with all the details I want.

Well the cars back!
Booked it in Tuesday, supposed to pick it up Wednesday. But I ended up getting it back Saturday.
The job was much fiddlier than expected. First of all, I asked for the oil cooler & filter setup to be swapped with a new one (made more space for exhaust to go past as the angle of the oil filter is changed), instead of being a straight swap, it was the most difficult part to get in there and remove the studs etc. After this the oil & water needed to be refilled.
Next, a new exhaust, 2.5" mandrel bent, from the back of the turbo (plate supplied) with a divorced wastegate style dump pipe and straight through oval muffler was made up. Again, the dump pipe was harder to make than expected, access made worse by the body lift. System was coated in high-temp paint.
Overall I'm very happy with the results. Even though the job was much harder and more time consuming than expected, A1 kept it at the quote price ($750 for exhaust, few hours labour for the oil cooler swap).

What prices are currently being quoted? Mine 3 months ago was around the 900 mark but is now hundreds more. Have prices gone up or do I have to bargain harder.
Got the cash now (well about $900 based on quotes 3 months ago) and that's it.
Might get on the phone tomorrow and talk some turkey...
