dissapearing speedo cable

does anyone know if a speedo cable from a 86 surf petrol engine will fit on my 86 hilux double cab diesel. I may have had mine disconnected and the middle seems to have dissapeared into thin air .

Dont see why it wouldn't as they drive out of the transfer case which are the same for both.
If it doesn't I have a ln65 double cab diesel that I am wrecking that has one in it. Need to know by end of weekend though as whats left may well go to the scrap man next week.
