Not 100% sure if it's any bigger, but for what it's worth, my 5 door has a 50L tank (approx)

According to the owners manual:
42 L (11.1/9.2 US/Imp gal) ....2 DOOR
55 L (14.5/12.1 US/Imp gal).... 4 DOOR
13 litres is a big difference.

I'd say at a guess it'd be only because of the longer boot, so it's unlikely to fit. The mount points are probably even the same, just spread further apart because it's only the boot area that it's really any longer. and the filler is probably in the wrong position as well.

cheers 4 the info guys i dont suppose i can push it a wee bit further and perhaps ask for some measurements of where the tank mounts are and where the filler is in relation to the rear of the tank and the front. cheers
really wanting more fuel capacity any other ideas?

fuel cell in the back? I know it takes up space, is impractical and would generally be a nuisance, so probably not.
Its an idea but not a very good one to be honest

No obvious answer really, go easier on the gas pedal? carry a jerry can? Build a drop tank that'll have the bottom smashed out on the first trip?

The factory tank is sufficent for some pretty decent trips, whereabouts do you want to go where you can't get fuel?

yea i get 300km out of a tank when easy on the pedal, this dramatically changes if i need to get places quick
i want to be able to drive a bit more before i have to fuel up again, seem to live at the gas station.
maybe ill have to rule out extra tank capacity. another stupid question

has anybody herd of those electronic superchargers actually working? and would it work on a carby model?

Maybe get a longer range smooth bottomed one made (with a heavy base to act as a skid plate) a rounded one will always hold less than a square one. Of course if yours has been bashed about it could be that it is smaller in volume because of the dents.
Take it out and try presurising it (when empty and vented only) to pop out the dents.

Hi Zook, any chance of a pic of the bash plate on your fuel tank, did you fabricate it yourself or buy a pre-made item ? I'm definitely in the market for a fuel tank bash plate after my first outing to woodhill a month ago!

Hmmm I used a 3 door vitara tank in the back of my 40 series cos the standard tank was under the seat an had to make way for the seat. Fits perfectly but as you guys have said it only holds about 40-45litres, Id be pretty interested to see if a 5 door one is much different.
Ill definately have to carry a Jerry can when I go out, the 2fs pretty thirsty

I found a 5 door vitara tank at pick a part today so I grabbed it

Dam monkeys punched a hole in it to drain the fuel so ill have to patch it
Measured it compared to the 3 door one I used in my 40 the only difference I can see is its 60mm longer between the front an rear mounting bolt holes, its the same width an height an the filler appears to be pretty close to the same position.
All Ill have to do is move my front mounts forward 60mm hopefully
Not sure how difficult itd be to move the mounts forward 60mm in a vitara tho, could be worth a look tho
Anyone after a vitara fuel pump, The new tanks got one in it but I dont need it
