KL 71s - comments?

Post by TJared »

Hey just wondering how others are finding their KL 71s?

I got some for my Wrangler and i have found them great

Not too bad offroad and i have pushed them pretty hard on the road too without any surprises

Looking to go bigger and i am thinking of sticking with these

Just wondering how others have got on

Comments/feed back??

Cheers

Found them awesome on my 04 Navara, way better than the Wranglers that were on it,On and Offroad. Was looking at putting them on the Safari but think there more suited to lighter weight trucks, will go with silverstones/simexs instead.

I have them on my Safari and they are great, they work well on rock faces and in mud but they don't work all that well in soup-like mud.
Onroad they are quiet and I have done about 4,000 kms on them so far without much wearing.

I would recommend them to anyone that is looking at using them for their daily driver they are a nice tyre.

I have 35's by the way.

I had them in 33's when that's all they had. Went to a silverstone but now back with the kumho in 35's. Good for rock hopping and good for reversing out of soft pea shingle when ya get stuck. I found them excellent on ice and snow as well. Beware they have soft side walss and tear easily on shrap rocks.

Good tyres, but work utes are getting 20-25000km off them, although fully laden, the utes weigh close to 3T

Oh yeh, forgot to say that anybody looking at getting them, look into getting there 100,000km warranty.Had it on Bosses work ute up the coast and they were shagged at like 30,000kms.You have to rotate and get wheel alignment every 10,000km though. Theres probably a disclaimer for offroad work too :?. could be worth a shot though

My prado came with them and although when I first got them I didnt like them, I do now.

They have reasonable road manners and are wearing okay (only done 5000kms so far and they look much as they did when I got the wagon). Not sure if they would wear faster under a heavy wagon (mines a swb), but assume they would. As for comparing wear rates to those overseas, dont forget we have pretty agricultural roads compared to most (not a smooth blacktop like US) with a coarse volcanic chip which wears tyres quickly.

Noise wise I thought they were a little loud but not as bad as other marques (probably louder then some though).

Off road use, dont know  all my use is on road so far - gravel roads dont count as offroad in my book.

If the price was right I would buy again, but only if it was a sharp price, as there are cheaper tyres out there.

I have them on my LWB Prado (square one). In 35x12.5x15...
Quiet on the road compared to my last muddies.
Excellent road manners.
Great in the sand.
Worked good in mud thus far.
Bit skittish on wet muddy rocks...But think most would be if covered in wet mud.
Only had them for 4 months..
2 Woodhill trips.
1 beach trip.
And Maratoto today. Mud, clay, rock and gravel.
See how they go.
Want to try them on wet grass next.....
