iv currently got a 350 CFM two barrel holley carb on my 245 hemi (4l straight 6). running a 3 speed atuo. im finding though that on most hills when you put your foot down it chokes up and stalls. im looking at putting a 470 four barrel on it as theyre meant to be alright with this kind of stuff. does anyone know how hard it is to switch them and if it is worth it or are there other carbs that i should look at?

cheers

check the power valve in the 350, if when you put the foot down it is not giving the extra gas to make power, or the main jets are partially blocked, or the accelerator pump is fritzed.

going to a 470 will probably cause you more grief, and may not even fit the inlet manifold you got,

it all works fine on the open road. it just has problems when im 4x4ing on the steeper climbs when the front's getting kicked up ect. im pretty sure its just the carb getting starved and then flooded again which causes it to stall. it has to sit for a few minutes before you can get it going again.

assuming the fuel bowl is to the front of the engine, then you need a thing called a whistle, it fits to the metering block and prevents fuel flowing into venturi via a over low when climbing steep things, for best effect epoxy it in place to seal the sides better,
