Re: STOLEN RIFLES!!
should put a add in your local paper, "Huge reward for return of firearms"
then when the desperate mate of the guy who pinched them turns up with them looking for a reward, tell him if he steeps foot on your property again youll shoot him...

Re: STOLEN RIFLES!!
Thank fuk you have a good insurance broker!!!!!
So for all of us fire arm owners benefit, how did they get at the rifles??
You gotta seriously good safe, in a bloody secure place from what I remember, did they rip the safe off the wall and walk off with it, or did they crack it open and take the rifles out??
Sounds to me like they could have been pretty young and inexperienced thieves, especially to take firearms that are worthless to them for blackmarket re-sale with out the bolts, and to trash the place for fun as well...............

wrecked the dead locked door and door frame with a big bar to get into the gun closet then prybared the safe open. Buffalo river 5 gun safe...wouldnt recomend it, looks like it popped open easy as for them.
a lot of stuff they did shows me they are seasoned house robbers but then they left the bolts so tells me another thing about them, they are thick and....

If you got photos and serials drop a sheet at huntfish, hamills and guntraders at least. We get given info sheets for stolen rifles all the time but Sadam is right and they usually turn up after police raids and they aren't often in good shape. Given there were no bolts they might turn up discarded somewhere but the semi might never show up. Do people on here have their rifles valued for insurance purposes. Seems a much smoother process when making a claim if you do have a valuation sheet.

dead right with the valuation, my kimber has a new replacement value of about $3200 so insurance company insisted on valuation to streamline any claims made, alot of gunshops will sell bolts without a serial number or sighting of the firearm though and they can be purchased from manufacturer
Had a m8 who was broken in to recently and had his bolt stolen but not gun as it was at gunsmith being glass bedded, he purchased one straight from ruger and not a question asked

Re: STOLEN RIFLES!!
It varies from store to store with individual components. Ruger has sent me parts direct also and I've seen a lot of shops that don't sight licences for parts such as bolts. Unsure what the rules are there. If it has a serial on it I generally want to sight a license. Don't wana turn up on target again
But yeah most shops have whats called 'the little blue book' and it comes out yearly i think with most makes and models of rifles and valuation details. Shop owners don't mind doing this for you if you ask em. Especially good if its for irreplacable firearms ie heirlooms or collectors pieces.

Sounds a little like they knew what they were after (but not a lot about it) and were determined to get it.
Re: STOLEN RIFLES!!
I had a shotgun stolen reciently and when the cops came round to look at how it was taken the cop told me that he just has all his guns scattered round the house as the gun safe is the first place they look. Not a bad idea even if it doesn't align with the current laws haha

thats one of the problems of the current gun laws, the days of having your guns tucked away under the batts in the ceiling or concealed in some other clever hiding place where no one will find them are gone, now you have to have a cabinet sitting in an easy to find place with a sign saying "guns in here"
everyone I know thats had firearms stolen have had their cabinets broken into

my cabinet is hidden away as was told by the cops that cabinets seen are too much of a temptation

Re: STOLEN RIFLES!!
Yeah concealment seems better than containment. Guns in a magrack behind a curtain in a cupboard is sometimes better than a bigass safe that draws attention. Its always going to be hard to stop someone who knows what they are after. A-cat security is just to prevent opportune thieves from getting ahold of firearms really.

as much as thats a good idea, if the average joe done that or got found out, bye bye everything.
he sounds like a good cop tho, far too many anti gun cops, polititions, and others around the place.
wops, do the police have any leeds yet?

Make sure you get one that's connected to the security company or calls you, alarms just make thieves move quicker and annoy the neighbours.
