I have got 5mm+ play in just the right hand front wheel, there is also a bearing noise, and clunking on braking l. Just replaced swivel hub bearings still the same play, wheel bearings are also tight. So now I"ll try the axle shaft support bearing. I have never done one of these looks pretty straight forward in the manuel but just asking for any heads up,tips or pointers before rather than after. Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers Simon

if the 5mm+ play is in the wheel it would have to be the wheel bearings or swivel bearings not the axle support bearing, better recheck them?

Maybe I'm just saying dumb sht but it could be radius or panhard bushes maybe? Bearing noise is a bit weird if the wheel bearings are sweet. Could just be a bit old and rumbly/on their last legs??

Cheers guys replaced wheel bearings not long ago and there still tight, also replaced swivel hub bearings, so the last bearing is the axel support bearing. Panhard bushes are fine too. Theres only play horozontal across the wheel not vertical?

tie rod ends, move wheel side to side and look at the drag links behind the diff

Id be inclined to look for something like that which affects the horizontal stability of the wheel (tie rod etc). if it was floating in all directions then I'd say bearing, but not with movement in just a horizontal plane.

Do the wheels move independant of each other? If so the tie rod behind the diff is the problem.
If both wheels move together then the most likely cause is the ball joint at the steering box end of the drag link. (the link that also has the steering damper on)
If that is the problem then I'd suggest getting an aftermarket replacement from 4WD bits as they are cheaper than factory and in future you will only have to replace the tie rod end not the whole link.

If all four ball joints are good then go back to wheel bearings.
