I've got a 1995 Patrol.
It's pretty guttless and I've heard $3000 is what it will cost to have a turbo fitted.
If I do this will the auto transmission be alright? Or will I need to upgrade that too?
Does $3k sound right?
Do you need to upgrade transmission when you turbo TD42?

Re: Do you need to upgrade transmission when you turbo TD42?
I turboed mine on the standard auto with the addition of a shift kit and a big cooler and it was fine for a couple of years. At the end i was running 20psi and doing winch comps with it as well.
That being said, I'd want to make sure it was in good condition otherwise it'll die pretty quick.
The auto I have now is still the same auto but with some upgrade that everyone should do when they get them rebuilt. The auto comes in a few different forms and it is the disposable parts that are different and give the strength. ie the gearset and mechanicals are the same.
So if running mild boost <15psi, then get a good service, fit a shift kit and a big cooler and it'll be fine. Afterall, the factory turbo runs the same auto and they last the same length of time.
ps The auto in mine is handling about 350 to 390kw going through it. (depending on how you convert RW to flywheel hp)

Nissan Terrano coilovers, turboed VH45, Safari axles, and some other stuff.
