Hey ya all, just wondering if any one has put a 70seris mwb body onto a 80seris chassis with all the standard 1hdt left in it?

It would take a fair bit of work to do check out http://www.ih8mud.com they have lots of info on cruisers.

I havent done it but it has been done with hilux an surf bodies. Anythings possible, Only real issue is how much of the work you can do yourself .
It would require modified body mounts, steering column mods etc (enter big list here) but if youve got time and money its do-able an would be pretty cool when finished:wink:

Oh an youd have to take into account the huge difference in chassis length between the 70 an 80

I've was thinking about something similar (except not a 70 series body) .

Was considering for an offroad only vehicle and was going to leave the original 80 series firewall and front drivers and passengers floor pan (cut down to match).

cheers gyes. year i would like to measure the differences up, i want to convert my 70 mwb into coil all round but would be good to way up the work load between putting my body on a vx chassis 1st, my m8te bought a 1990 manual vx last year with run bearing and we had it fixed for under a grand , and at under 4000 for the vx he bought with factory lockers would hav been a good donor, hey recon the vtnz would get ya if bj74 codes were stitched into a deregs vx and take it in for a suspension conversion cert

Currently doing this conversion now..
Stage i'm at is mounting the body to chassis..
I've cut the back off it too to make it a 2 door
with the lexus, it should go bloody awesome.
Oh also have cut 340mm off the back chassis rail..
It should be interesting..
