fuel filter restriction alarm

Post by tweake »

any got or even know of an alarm/light setup for fuel restriction ??
i see a few places make gauges, but i don't really want fuel lines into the cab. just an idiot light would be fine.

i did a diesel fuel filter change and it was clogged up with light brown slime and a bit of water in the bottom. thats the 2nd filter i've had clog up (first may have been filter failure). problem is these injection pumps do not take kindly to lots of inlet fuel restriction (high vacuum). i'm told they blow an internal seal which causes the rest of the pump to grind itself to bits.

or i may look at pusher pump and a pre filter.

Peter Munroe Commercials has been fitting a few to the common rail diesels they sort out. They have them made up into kits as well.
And DSL have been trying to get us to use their setups also.
Expensive though, if my memory is correct it was about $700 for the kit. But then that's cheaper than a new pump and injectors etc.
There's only 2 tools you'll ever need - WD40 and Duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should - use the WD40. If it moves and it shouldn't - use the Duct Tape.
