The Trekka was built here in NZ and the official publicity launch was in early 1970 at ex All Black Ken Gray's Pauatahanui farm. I was there as I was fencing the boundary between his and my Uncles farm at the time.

Well well well... YEP thats the one :D
SO FAR..

Changed FU***D plugs
Changed oil (about 1/2 litre came out of the sump) and filter
Cleaned out Carb, had a bit of a miss that sounded like 1/2 stick of dynamite going off.
Tightened up and repacked R/F wheel baring as it had a "slight" shimmy

Jerry, this one has brakes, was mucking around and had to slam the brakes on, nearly put me through the windscreen!!!

Motors pretty strong still.. aparrently its from an XA Falcon!! (straight6 with the Stromberg Carb)

When i get my camera back I'll take some better pics

from looking at the picture im gonna say standard landrover springs.

The gearbox is likely to be a landy one with a ford adapter (quite a few of these conversions have been done) but I couldnt say for sure without a looksee

Landy gearboxes are pretty distinctive, red pull out lever for lowrange and a yellow push down lever for highrange

Is that the pushdown one that's spring loaded?
The other lever has 4wd/neut/2wd ( i think )

turns out P.J has nothing to do with it.

found out quite a bit more for ya.......

here is an excerpt from my mate in Taupo who owned it for some time, should give you a little more knowledge of its history dude............

Hi Mate, you want all the shit on the old Landy,a 1957 S1, well I bought it off a Navy guy stationed at Irirangi in Waiouru in about 1987 it had been owned by army guys , a police man and an ambo all in Waiouru, I repowered it with a 200ci falcon in 1988,later when that was poked I put in a 250ci, at the same time put in a series 3 gearbox. In 89 I put in a Celica power steer box and pump and converted the front to disc brakes with 403 Peugot, also fitted a VH 44 in line power booster for the brakes.I did 5 or 6 national trials in it around 1990 - 1991 and did about 10yrs of Teams Recovery in it hardly missed a TR in that time.
She got her name in about 1990 when the Dragon said what Fugen ugly truck it was, so the name stuck from there FUG.
I sold it to Ross when I finished building the red truck in about 1999--- 2000.
Not to sure why Ross put cruiser gear under it as in 13yrs I drove it pretty hard and only broke one front axel, never to stuff a diff.
