anzac weekend

Post by mercutio »

why i love my mercedes

so i finally got the filters for my engine that is a downside i will admit having to get them ordered in through supercheap especially when i live 40 mins away from the nearest one and they won't let me order it over the phone so i usually order it one weekend and collect it the next anyway enough grizzling about that.

right time to do the oil change first of all reach under the bumper and undo the drain plug

Image

right thats the dirty part done

next undo the bolts holding the oil filter lid on and remove the lid

Image

then remove filter notice because i am taking the filter out of the top of the oil filter housing i don't need to worry about oil dripping everywhere gotta love those german engineers they think of everything

Image
also notice how clean my hands in this usually messy job and how i'm not burning myself on any hot engine parts that i have to reach past to get to the filter

okay i'll get off my soapbox now :D :D

Why I love Jap Imports

If I ever need to replace something, its off to the local parts shop.

Notice how easily I can do that, when such a simple thing could turn out very messy on a merc

i could have got the bits off the shelf from the local mercedes agency
but the parts department isn't open over the weekends and since i work long hours that is a hassle
next time i might just ring them up and see if they will deliver it for me

Picked up a discovery for a project I shouldnt be starting till I finish another one. But since its at a mates place and he needs the room back asap, I have been taking a 2 hour break while the newborn sleeps and shooting down to "rotazuk's" place to strip the mess of a vehicle I bought.
Twice now I have been burnt by people on trademe stating a vehicle is straight when it isnt, so will be off to find another rear diff housing for the Disco
Might even start a project thread to show what the hell Im thinking of doing :?
