Hey guys. Been looking for a 4wd to use for hunting and a bit of light 4wding. been reading and following the Suzuki part of the forum. Just like to say, i managed to get my hands on my first suzuki, a 1995 Vitara 2L v6 4 door manual. For the price that i paid it was a good deal, everything works and the body only have a few light dings. Took it for a quick test on the 4wd system going up a steep dirt road, boy was it fun. cant wait to take it to the bush for some driving and hunting.

DOnt think i will be modding this unless i come across cheap mods. then again a bull bar with 2 spot light at the front would be nice..

my advise would be sell it for more than u paid for it while its still tidy and buy an sj413

I got the vitara for hunting first and off roading 2nd. Can anyone tell me what tyres they would recommend me for my vitara wearing 16 " rims? hoping for some thing like 60 on road and 40 off road. Been told by the tyre shop today i am pretty limited, and he mentioned Yokohama AT GO 12. Any one use them before?? verdict??

If you are sticking with an all-terrain, then the Yokohamas are pretty good, albeit a bit expensive. The Dunlop Grandtrek AT3 is also a good general purpose AT and readily available in 16" rim size, although I don't know how small they go in outside diameter. You are limited to around 29" from memory without getting into modifications to fit the larger rubber.

That equates to around 215/75X16, or 225-235/70X16.

A few guys on here are tyre specialists and will be able to give you good advice if you post this Qu. in the tyre section on the forum.

Where do people put their tools etc in their vitara? no under floor area to put any tools.. Also any one recommend things to be done to the exhaust on the 2L v6 motor to get more power?

I would say remove the CAT or at the least knock the baffles out with a iron rod, bearing in mind that I do things by the cheap.

But removing that CAT should net you 10hp or there abouts. exhaust wise it really depends on the noise you want to put up with.

Stick a monster tach on it to, thats good for at least another 5hp!!!!

On a more serious note, making the engine breath better will make it perform slightly better, so removing the cat, swapping the silencers for free flowing ones and fitting something like a K&N to the standard air box will help a little bit. 10hp is very unrealistic

And it makes you taller and more attractive to women. (isnt 10KW bigger than 10Hp?)

Engines are basically airpumps. The better the flow in and out the better they run (to a point). A less restrictive air filter first, then exhaust headers into a nice free flowing exhaust (I would imagine 2 - 2.25 inch would be more then enough on a 2 litre) with free flowing mufflers. All that work will set you back about a grand and maybe net you another 5 horse (maybe), but will make the engine more responsive.

But first get a decent set of tyres (and maybe wheels), no point in having all that horsepower and no traction. A small lift will help too with clearance. Of course all that extra horsepower is going to be eaten by your new tyres if you go too big.

And before you go offroad get some tow hooks sorted for recoveries - cause you will get stuck

Join a club and get out there driving.

Then when thats done fit all the bling and then save for the inevitable extras that you will need when the bug bites (and it will - BAD).

Sweet thanks. Yes been pricing up on tyres and i think i have narrow down to 2 final choices. I guess i will leave the car stock as all that money wont justify the power gain.

So where do ppl put all the tools etc? or should i make a box and put it in the boot or something.. Sure sounds like stupid question i am asking.

any tool box that can be strapped down will be good

but i have no rear seats
