Fuel pump?, restriction in fuel line or tank pick up? does it run a ballist resistor? bad conection in ignition circuit ie not enough current getting to coil??? A few places to look

Could be fuel pump not suppling enough fuel to to keep it running, does it have and inline filter somewere it could be blocked and not letting the fuel through quick enough.

thanks
classic crusier spares she has electric fuel pump and have replace all the fuel line (6mm)from tank to carb has filter just before the carb so will replace/bypass that.
landyrover how do you check for the power to the coil ? have rewired it all but will recheck
is the edit better on the post nibs? I do try a proof read to see if it make sense but some times have off days
have remembered haven't changed the rotor so will replace that too
so into the garage for me tomorrow nite

sticking float in the carb?
Stuck in up position so fuel cant get into bowl as fast as it drains out.

When I was 15, I learnt an internal combustion engine needs 3 things to keep it going; Fuel, Compression, and in the case of petrol, spark. I'm now a Marine engineer and I work on everything from 1 cylinder petrols and diesels to big block V8's and V16 Diesels. With problems like this the best tools are a timing light and a can of engine start. With the timing light you can see if there is "HT" from coil or dizzie. If it is a fuel problem a quick squirt of ether will let you know if it is or not. If after a squirt there is no firing then it is an electrical issue.
I'm a Diesel convert!
Hope this helps.
Cheers.
