Waterproofing and Snorkels

Hi,

Anyone got any recommendations for waterproofing a 86 Nissan 720?

Also I'm planning on building a snorkel with a piece of rubber and some drain pipe. My question is, Whats minimum pipe diameter you guys would reccommend for a Z18 1770 Nissan Engine?

PS: I'm also looking for a workshop manual for the above car... if anyone knows where I can find one it'd be great. Found one on trademe but it doesnt include the model I have

Hi wjw,

You might wanna talk to bodge about his exhaust tubing snorkel. solihl has just done it as well. Might have some advantages over drain pipe.

Some mates of mine looked at using 100mm plastic sewer pipe to make snorkels for their 94 Pajeros, the pipe can be heated and bent to shape without deforming it. Not sure about fitting a head to the pipe but but if you bent the top of the pipe to run along top of windscreen about 200mm it would get the intake away from the line of mud off your front tyres.

A visit to your friendly exhaust shop will get you some 3 or 4 inch pipe bent the way you want it, then buy a snorkel ram from Truck & Diesel services or your local tractor place to stick on the top.
Under the hood you need to get some heatproof corrugated hose to run from the snorkel end to your air cleaner.
Better than a PVC one which breaks the first tree you hit it with and looks like you hit and run a plumbers van ;-)
