88 Surf electric mirror removal

I am fitting a new passenger door to my Surf and need to fit my existing electric mirror to the new door.

It's obvious that the mirror assembly bolts to the door from the outside as there are two captive nuts on the door however I can't figure out how to remove the chromed plastic housing on the outside to access it.

I have tried prying but it sounds and looks like it will snap.

Anyone done this before?

Cheers
Matt.

Just tried the one on rangielux 4 ya

Out at the bottom first then slide down. The part that will break is in the middle near the front so make sure that is clear before sliding down good luck I just broke my one :( -luckily spare one under bench :)

Well the little lug in the middle snapped off, looks like it would be impossible to get this housing off without breaking it.

The plastic is very brittle and it's quite a small lug.

I have glued it back together and it should hold okay.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers
