DIY Intercooler for 1KZTE motor

Post by kbushnz »

Hi yah All.
After a rule of thumb for intercooler size.
Particularly for the 3 litre 1KZTE.
Going to go Top mount....Probably with fan.
Don't want to go water to air, too fiddly and I don't have the room up front for the radiator.
Any suggestions / sites to read.

Ta.

Thanks for that, have had a look at what the aussies do.
More interested in physical sizes then I can see what's on the local 2nd hand market.
There is a Prado intercooler set up for sale on trademe at the moment, but I don't want to pay that much. :)

I've got two for when i was going to do mine, decided i dont want to do it anymore as im concentrating on my dedicated bush basher.

Got a wrx sti one which i paid $150 for, yours for that or thereabouts if you want it, also got a "something" 2.8 and i paid $50 for it. WRX is a highflow one according to that site and the 2.8 one looks like an easier fit.

Hi yah
I have been googling the net and there are lots of ideas out there.
There are a few Aussie sites that have kits for the 80 series.
Some of the Patrol stuff looks good.
And there are the surf pages.
http://www.4wdbits.co.nz have some kits for sale for the Landcruisers.. 80 series I think.
To find them, use the search function on the site and type in "intercooler"

Hope that helps.
