EF Falcon Alternator upgrade to a SWB Vit

Post by joeninetynz »

Question for the boys whose done this before...

Is the EF Falcon alternator upgrade to my SWB 94 Vit is as easy has 'bolt straight on'?

I managed to source a mitiz one.

I figured I might have to change the leads to the battery to be a little more heavy duty. But what else should I consider before I start pulling things off my motor.

Cheers Joe

Why are you upgrading? EF is 80amp?? if i remember right

Plenty of people running winches, lights etc off the stock 50amp one.

Wiring should is pretty straight forward , just have to make sure the right wires from the loom go onto the right terminals on the alternator. ie Ignition 12v / Dash/ECU / Battery.

the EF is a multi v belt so match's the Vitara pullys , but not sure if it will line up on the stock mounts.

hi there i did an ef swap on my samurai motor and its a 110amp alternator it was suposed to be a strait swap but it didnt turn out to be, might be ok on vitara but not sure, if its for your winch then i suggest just getting a bigger battery as your stock alternator will be fine .

Thanks guys

The EF Alternator is 110amp

Yes its for the winch and spotties on the front and roof. It's all in the planning stage.

If the standard one can handle it...I'll leave it out
