Can someone explain how this inproves performance.

I was looking on TM and can across this statement on an auction.

"*Custom Grooved Engine Cylinder Heads (Maximises Fuel burn & increases power!)"

Image

I have been trying to figure out how this makes the fuel burn more efficient. Can anyone explain how this works. Would this not create a stress point from where the head would start cracking?

Here is the auction link if it helps

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Cars/Mitsubishi/auction-296355853.htm

I am very interested to hear others opinion on this.

bloody hell, amazing what ya can achieve with a angle grinder, to my way of thinking the edge created by the cuts would create hot spots to help pre-ignition, stress raising areas to help create head cracking, i wonder who thought of that idea ?? found em

They are known as Singh grooves after the guy that came up with the idea, if you do a searh online you will see that like alot of these fringe concepts people are divided over their effectiveness.

makes for interesting reading. I am not convinced that it is a good idea though. Perhaps Mr Singh smokes the hashish.

reading thru the test cases amuses me, "all i did was skim 50 thou off the head, clean up the valves and ports, put the groove in and the motor has more power when i got it going again!!! " and the Mr Sing Recommends a prayer before starting the motor for the first time

we could try a single groove in a couple of cylinder then a few doubles and rest triples , hell if we do two if each we could try a 4 slot, only problem is we would have to find some one to do the prayer, you available Sadam, only fitting as its your motor,
we could use a 4" 5" or 9" if ya wanna be real quick stinky

Can I suggest drilling some holes in the inlet manifold? more air = more power

hey were onto to something here, we could run a 4mm drill thru the injectors to improve the flow rate more fuel + more air = more power, oh and put a double dose of power up in to make sure the oil can cope with the added power

the engine manufacturers must be stupid cause they don't think of these things........

Sure why not Marty wont mind and other bright ideas while we are there how about some holes in the sump to save weight thats sure to work

handful of sand, really really fine sand, to hone all those clearances to spot on point where oil flows really freely around the engine

you could use monster cables for spark plug leads as they have a heap better audio and flow electrons faster than anything else

Oil is heavy, why not just run without and save the extra couple of Kg's??

all jokes aside i can see some science behind it but otherwise its just a joke, a grinder cut is not a squish area. actually surprised they didn't eyebrow the head and block.

hate to see what other "improvements" have been done.

wouldnt be doin the headgaskets survival rate any favours either. that little bit of squish squishing a charge straight at head gasket sealing ring.

hold on there oil is only heavy when its by its self.
when oil is on water it floats so that is when oil is light.
---SO---
if you put a litre or two of water into the motor first then added the oil, the oil would be floating on the water meaning it now weights nothing
---THUS---
you now still have the right amount of oil in the motor but it now only weights less than when you started due to the water removing the weight from the oil
--- simple realy--
