94 Scud trans rebuild

Post by Brad230 »

Has anyone got info/experience on rebuilding the man trans on Scud's? Are they easy to do? I have a 5 spd man behind the G16A engine in a TD01W series 94 Escudo. I thought I could get the bearings from SAECO and had a tip to try GBI or Gearboxes International for other parts like synchro's etc. I guess its easier to buy a second hand one and fit that, but I would like to rebuild mine (and I need the practice for various reasons). Any help and thoughts would be greatly appreciated...

get a second hand one, recon that and fit it. Then either sell your old one as a going one or recon it and sell it for a bit more.

Saves having the vehicle out of action for ages should something happen and if you give up take it and the other bits to a pro to do. All while still driving yours around.

Sounds great Chris, I presume this one is a runner? Do you have a cell number I can reach you on?

Yep swapped a efi engine into my cousin's vitara with a low ratio tranfercase , so it was easier to swap the lot instead of splitig the engine and box at the time .

Give me pm to come and have a look at it .

Cheers
Chris
