Prado rear diff ?'s

Post by Rotazuk »

Hi
What ratio's do the coil sprung solid front prado's come in . I know 4.3 :)

Also if someone has one on the shed floor can you measure from the radius arm mount to the edge of the diff flange on each side . All I am after is finding out how much the diff head is off set , ie if one side is 400 and the other is 100 the head is offset 300mm , so what you meassure from on radius mount does not really matter so long as its the same on both sides .

Otherwise I will wait untill I see one in a carpark somewhere :)

Cheers

The 4.3 is in the 1KZTE (3.0L) powered.
The 4.88 is in the 2LT (2.4L) ones.

Hi,
I think you will find that
if one side is 400 and the other is 100 the head is offset 300mm
it is actually only 100mm offset from the centre. if the head was moved 100mm toward the centre the measurements each side would be 200mm even.

What school did you go to ? I recomend you go back to it .

400 - 100 = 300
100 + 100 = 200

So how would that put the diff in the center , its still 50mm out . Either way I need the measurement as asked for :) and it looks like it is about 300mm , not enough :( .

Hi Chris,

Yes you are quite right, the theory was right but the answer was wrong
Must have been thinking about the 300 and not the 400.
So for the 85 and 410 situation the offset from the centre will be (410-85)/2 = 162.5.

Post was intended as a little humor , not a dig . After a coffee or two it seems a bit harsh .

If you turn up rex hope the prado is empty :)

No worries, wasn't taken as a dig, would rather be told I am wrong rather than possibly misleading others. Relpy was just to show how I worked it out, not to make a point
