What is standard height for a Hilux?

Can someone measure the distance from centre of hub to the guard straight above and let me know? Really not sure how my current height compares to standard since the springs have an extra leaf, but they seem pretty sagged. If you have a lift let me know and I can work back from that.

I'm on 30s and want to go bigger, but since I'm using it to move scoria and metal etc, I can't afford to be scraping the guards with a decent load. Trying to get a price on a 2" lift kit, but looking at how much the rear currently sags loaded up, I'm still not 100% sure I can get away with 33s. The tyre issue is getting desparate, so it's looking more and more like I might end up with 31s or 32s unless someone can tell me all is good with 33s loaded up

if its only the back you are worried about why not just chuck 2 inch block between the chasis mounts and the deck? I can see why it would be a wof issue because the deck really doesn't matter but if it is its only a 20 min job to take the blocks out.

Awesome advice. That settles it - 2" lift and 33s. Now I've just gotta find a lift kit.

Appco. Maxitrac.
2" Lifted springs, shocks, shackles, u-bolts, bushes
$1200.
The maxitrac rears have real big overloads (well i think they are) which will be great if its a working truck.

I'll give appco a call - also got another to try that a mate suggested: efs suspension. Not sure if that's possibly a more expensive option though as he's running 35s, a massive lift, lexus v8... One way or another it sounds like $1200 should see me right though.

Do I need to extend steering column or anything at all, or is 2" still well within reach?

na steering wasnt an issue for me. Only thing i did was remake the front sway bar. Just got the two ends and put threaded rods on each one with a sleeve in the middle so it was adjustable. I think 4wdbits sell them.
Only other thing i would say is i think i needed castor correction for the rear as i seemed to break the rear diff alot. sold the truck before that happened. although i was running a 350 so it could have been the heavy foot and 35s
oh and i did get extended brake hoses but the stock ones would have been sweet. braided lines look cool though

Appcos prices worked out about 1450 for springs and shocks - maxitrac, Can get old man emu springs and nitro charger shocks is about 1600 and efs works out about 1800. Seems a bit more than everyone else is saying. Are the prices people quoted current or from a few years back? Are there any opinions on these brands? In all cases I'm told I need non inverting shackles to prevent ...well spring inversion I guess. Mate of mine got efs a while ago and needed an adjustable torque arm. He's running a bigger lift though. Efs have it as a necessary part of the kit and their total cost including shackles bushes steering damper etc comes to $3600! I wish I could shop around more but I need to move quick as bushes just failed wof and I don't feel like pulling the undercarriage off twice

I've got EFS in my Lux, I got the 2" lift when I got it. I so far haven't bothered with the steering drop arm or adjustable torque rod. I got the 4 springs, shocks, steering dampener and ubolts with new bushes. Used the old shackles.

Aparently some need the steering drop arm some don't. You don't know till you fit it. Mine only clears the spring by 2-3mm with the factory one. I would probably benefit from the torque rod but I like not spending money on my truck for a change. (gotta try for a WOF again this weekend)

I think the steering arm would probably need to be certed if fitted.

My shocks are also a bit short for the springs. The rear has now settled ok but the front still sits pretty high even with a winch and bar at the front. I have been told I should have gone for 2" springs and 3" lift shocks.

a few bad pics, but will take a side on pic tomorrow and put it up. Yeah, I read that about the drop arm. "Needed on 50% of installs" and "impossible to tell until the springs are fitted" sounds like you're going to be installing it on some old British Leyland bomb when it depends if Albert had drank his morning cuppa before he nailed it together.
I preferred the maxitrac and OME options on the basis that neither suggested I need either a torque arm or a drag link and I'm not particularly flush. I should be sweet anyways as there appears to be a bit of a bend in my current drag link that will help it clear (should probably replace it anyway, but I'm not keen on the $500 efs quote for one).
What I've read on the forums here suggest the OME is probably worth the extra in terms of longevity, but I kinda need to watch how much I spend. Seems like I'm probably up for another $300 or so by the time I've replaced ubolts, bushes and I guess greasable shackles (can kinda see what they're getting at about not wanting to invert the springs)
