I am new to the whole own a 4x4 thing and was after some pointers
i am after a smaller 4x4 so i have narrowed it down to a Suzuki escudo/vitara or a daihatsu rocky.

Re: Suzuki or Daihatsu
I would go for a Suzuki over a Daihatsu. Suzuki are more common, parts are cheap and plentiful and they are very capable when driven well.

Vitara for sure . They have there bad points , weak front diff etc , but you could get 5 front diffs for the price of a daihatsu one ( if you could find it )
Also after market parts , lockers etc , are avalible for the vitara and not the daihatsu .
Just my opinion thou

Suzuki, it's the one that's not poos.
It's all personal choice, but there is still buttloads of Vitara/Escudos on the road (which is a testament to the build quality, some of them are over 20 years old now...) and there's of course a heap of spares kicking around. There is a good reason they are popular.
