10th & 11th July

Post by meece4x4 »

Well spent today getting the Whale ready for it's north Island trip, replaced the panhard Rod bushes, my god what a frigging mission getting the old rubber ones out, ended up having to drill 10 or so holes down the side of the rubber so we could press them out even then our 6 ton bottle jack was struggling.

drives like a new truck now .. no shimmy/wobble or vibration all the way up to and past 100 kph  happy happy joy joy.

also did.

oh did this mod to one of my el cheapo twin pack PRS radio's the radio's are great but chew the AAA batteries so decided to modify one to run on USB as it works out to the same voltage/amps, added a 3 way cigarette adapter to the top of the dash and now i can just plug the PRS into a spare USB charger and run it off that when in the cab and use the other unmodified one when out of the truck.

Removed the standard rear bumpers off my 70 series and started to make the new rear bar, also mounted the spare in the back of my truck instead of the rear door, and finished off the winch bar on my 40.

:D Picked up my new rims from KATS 15x8 white spokes, good price although my tyres were well out of balance not sure what caused it, i put one new 33x12.5x15 maxxis mudder on one rim and the amount of weight needed to balance it was quite acceptable but the others OMG one took 200g on the outside and 130g inside. the others were around the 130g outside and 50g inside WTF
Also managed to bend the rear driveshaft on saturday afternoon
Started pulling the gearbox out this afternoon to do the rear main seal.
Not a real good weekend on the whole :|
