2lt miss

i have a 2lt in my surf, and its just started to miss and smoke after about a minute of idling :x its been running fine up until now, my engine is pretty stock apart from egr valve being blocked of, i have also unplugged the plug and air hose which i think controls the butterfly for egr valve. my exhaust has been undone at the first flange, its boosting 14 pounds.there is no smoke what so ever from motor apart from when it starts to miss then there is heaps of smoke and when the miss starts it some times revs it self up. the miss will clear up when you give it some gas but will return once left to idle again, i think i have a pretty good motor and its the fastest surf i have driven (2.4/2.8). so any help to why its doing this will be much appreciated. do i need to bolt my exhaust back up or is it some thing to do with my glow plugs as they are not the best or some thing else :D

injectors maybe? Might have a crook one.

What colour is the smoke? Black, blue, white or grey? Does it linger and stink of diesel, or disipate without a smell?

If it does it only when cold, then maybe a glow plug (but not 100% that's the problem).

think is white smoke and bit grey my wife said it smells of diesel but will check that out tomorrow, it does it more when its at running temp and not so much when its cold. its been getting worse lately as it use to only do it every now and then but now its nearly every time it idles

Okay I'm going to say injectors. I have nothing to base that guess on (grey/white cloud and stink of diesel says to me poor spray pattern (nozzle faulty) and unburnt fuel is because of poor atomization through nozzle), but that's my guess ... ah ... pick.
