I got about 2in by putting longer shackles on the back (cheap & easy to make yourself) and had springs re-set at the local blacksmith with an extra long leaf added (cost $300). I then removed a couple of the short leaves from each pack cos it sat higher than I wanted, & it seems to articulate better. I've been told I can expect it to sag after a couple of years, but have the extra short leaves I can put back if it does. I'm reasonably happy with it. I also cut the back guards to the top of the wheel well. It comfortably fits 33in tyres, & I've had 35's on with only a bit of rubbing at full articulation. Whatever you do, you'll need longer travel shocks to get any benefit from a lift - I managed to find some second-hand ones at a reasonable price - but you'll get what you pay for... I haven't had it certified, but haven't had WOF problems either. It's a resonably mild lift and doesn't really look non-standard. I haven't tried it, but have been told longer shackles on the front is a bad idea - it changes the castor angle the wrong way & will cause steering to wander. A body lift would also be relatively simple & cheap, although I haven't done one, so can't really give any advice.
