I wonder if you could help me with a question.
I like Nissan SUV's (sorry 4X4) had a older Terrano 10 years a go that was great.

Now i need a wagon that will,
A. Carry the kids when i really have to
2. Work out of, self emplyed contract sparky so i don't get to carry that much kit. ( i have a subbie SW that is okay). I clock up some K's during the week in the city, mostly in traffic but get away come the weekends, been known to do 4-500 k round trip on a saturday.
C. Get me to the back of the farms i go shooting?hunting on, nothing realy rough, just some muddy, lumpy parts on the races etc..

I am looking at the Terrano's 3.2 , or older Safari 4.2 LWB'

Is a 5 seater 4wd ok or do you need a 7-8 seater?, could look at a SWB Nissan Safari ... good tow wagon

SWB would be crap with kids. LWB Safari is the way to go. Get one already turbo'd if you can afford it. Non turbos are still great trucks but don't expect to do much passing. Another Terrano would probably be cheaper to buy and run though.

LWB safari mate, you will not regret it.

I have always had a soft spot for the low roof Safari

and i know this has probably been asked before, but what the difference between a safari and a patrol?

I like the compactness and look of the SWB but i don't think it would be to practical with the kids and work stuff

We had a patrol at work, same year as my safari, its not a tech answer just observation, patrol had a tacho, safari no, patrol was imported from aussie, safari from japan, patrol no winch, safari - PTO, patrol had a yellow dash cluster, safari had a white one, the patrol had some grooves in the panel work, bottom of the quarter panel through the doors, a cosmetic thing and the safari diddn't........thats pretty much it, all the lights, engine, rest of the panel work, all the same............?

Cosmetics aimed at different markets. Might be some differences in the factory spec (fitout) too depending on the intended market (I'm thinking of toyota's cold weather packs, etc as an example, and yes I know he's talking Nissan )

Actually a SWB would mean i wouldn't have to cart the teenager daughters around together, sparing the pain and anguish when they scrap .
Reckon i could get all my work gear in there, if i took out the back seat.
