Another example of simple ideas being belittled in our own country by the "intellegencia" who usually have an interest in the current thinking or status quo (no, not the band

).
EG.
A power station that was fed the refuse from a local district was designed years ago in NZ but no-one wanted it and the greenies poo pooed the idea as unsound. Basically rubbish traveled a short distance, was burned and exhaust gasses scrubbed by the gasses given off as the rubbish was dried which all produded power. the resulting leftovers were then sifted with the reusable stuff removed and the tiny amount of inert ash etc placed in landfill. The designer took it off shore and has built about 19 of them now, mainly in Aussie, but some in USA - California (yes thats right the clean air capitol of the world). It seems his ideas did work and now we cant benefit from them as we cant afford them.
How many of these little gems are washed off shore because we dont think it will work? We kiwi's think too small when it comes to big ideas, or maybe its the naysayers and tall poppy hunters that cut us all back down to size.
Who's funding the martin jet pack now? Bet it isnt a kiwi company opening their wallet.
