Hey all, pulled my 1HDT apart last week.. The motor has used water in the past and then moved on to mixing oil and water.

When I pulled it apart the headgasket was fine and I saw no obvious signs of cracking but I know that most of the time you're lucky to see the crack.

But there was this funny brown/white stuff on the #2 injector and in the combustion chamber of the #2 cylinder...





Does this suggest anything odd? Perhaps a crack deeper in the head letting oil in somewhere?

Thought as much, considering it's somewhere inside the head instead of on the face I'll assume there's not a lot that can be done?

Wont have much time over the next few weeks to get it crack checked but if there's a good probability that it's time for a new head then at least I know

even internal cracks can be fixed mate, just a matter of how bad it is and if its viable. if you do end up going for a new head talk to the guys down south at Miles Toyota for the replacement, dont get aftermarket crap unless you intend selling it streight away.

We sell heaps of Cruiser heads and short blocks overseas. A lot goes to the mines in Ozzie and some go to Europe/Ireland.

Get your injectors overhauled while they are out, well worth the expense.

The better they atomise the fuel, the better and quicker the fuel burns.

The better and quicker the fuel burns the more power you get.

It will make a big difference on a motor that has done high K's.

Yeah, I know it's a bad thing to say but - I've read elsewhere on the net that the 1HDT injectors are a special breed that seem to attract a higher price?

I'm in the mind frame at the moment where the engine is out, all the stuff should be done now.

Been meaning to do a lot of this work for a while, all it took was a slipping clutch to get it started haha, kms are up around 90,000 after the rebuild so may as well do the big ends+mains.

Nah, the 1HDT injectors are all good, its the 1HD-FT(24valve) that that are the expensive buggers, $1200 per injector

They should be able to give yours a clean up and adjust them for about $60-$80each.
