Thinking about buying a 2.8 turbo diesel bighorn. Are they any good for towing the odd car trailer with suzuki on it? Has any one done any towing with them? Any one had any real issues with them? cheers

I've done a lot of towing with my Pighorns over the years - they tow just fine - I have towed a transporter designed for a 5 ton digger to Auckland, Wellington and most places in between to pick up vehicles (had about 10 UBS55s at home for parts at one stage) and I have never had a problem - as long as you dont thrash them they are fine! I can sit on 40km/h in 2nd all the way up all the hills on the Napier - Taupo with a heavy trailer and vehicle on the trailer without any trouble. If I put my foot down and made it scream I could hit 3rd but whats the point?
Of course a bigger truck would tow better (like a Nissan Safari or Landcruiser) but if what you've got is a UBS55 Pighorn then it will do the job just fine!

I had a 2.8 Mu for a while and it towed just fine, wee bit light if you had a heavy load but ample power.
