Who has fitted new or second hand after market seats to their sj? :) can you tell me what seats you used and does anybody have photos of how they mounted them? I have some mr2 seats but they are going to take alot of modifying to the mounts to make them fit and im a little unsure what I will get away with wof time :?:

Hi Chops,

If it were me I would try to fit the new seats onto the mounts from the old seats, that way there is minimal (no) modification to the very visible bits where the seats mount to the body.

Good luck with the job and post some pics when you get there.

Cheers
Hein

Technically you need to have them certified...unless your wof guy is chilled..

Mazda eunos are good as are mazda gtx. Most fixed back race seats are to wide to fit. I have Racetech 100's in mine but if your a bigger person these wont suit as you probably wont fit in them

Technically if you bolt your new seats to the OEM rails and use the OEM seat anchor points, you shouldn't require a cert. If the WOF person, in their opinion is happy that your seats are safe and secure, then no problem.

But like anything, if your workmanship is bogey and you fit some seats to some whetu as rails and drill some holes in the floor to mount it, the WOF man's going to send you on your way to get a LVC, which you will also fail.

Check out page 4 of this document:

I have been know to take this document with me when getting WOF's
