Intercooling a 1KZ-TE

Hey guys, i am wanting to intercool my 1993 surf and was wondering what size intercooler those who have done it have used. I am a member on the aussie surf forum and have read the techsite articles on there but have not come to a conclusion on what is the best one to use. There is only one article which has information about fitting it to the 1kz engine and that person used a Pajero intercooler. I have been hunting as i already have a Bighorn one and found that it only has 1 3/4" inlet and outlet diameters. Is this suitable especially seeing although i am thinking about getting a mechanical fuel pump installed.
Cheers
Sam

1 3/4 doesnt sound correct for a bighorn intercooler.
The Bighorn intercooler I was using (2.8 Engine) once you remove that silly casting has an entry size of 2 1/2 inches,
And an exit of 2 3/4 inches.
Here are some photos of a mates 3.1 which is the same as the 2.8.

You can always make custom ends if you have access to an alloy welder.
Factory Toyota one isn't any bigger really.
Has bigger fin area...
The exit from the 1KZTE turbo compressor is only 2 inches.
And the intake hole size is only 2 1/4...
Have fun

yeah i have a feeling the guy who i got it off lied to me. As mine looking nothing like your guys ones. Mine looks a lot like a 2.8 pajero one with both pipes coming out of the bottom of the intercooler. This is quite annoying as i have a feeling that 1 3/4" pipe is going to be no way near sufficient for the job as i will be winding up the boost when the mechanical pump is installed. I guess its time to look for a cheap bighorn intercooler.
