Hi today i fitted a lockright in my rear 4 pinion kzn130 diff, i was unable to swap the side gears over like your supose to as one of them had chewed out the face that it rubs on in carrier.
it kind of looks like a spun big end i have ended up dressing it up abit with grinder and a file sum of the crud flaked off its smoother than it was but still has a good 1mm slope from side to side compared to other side which is snug an cant slop at all. Just wondering could that movement damage the locker im hoping that with the axles in and running thick oil itl be suported abit.
any thoughts would be great
Thanks Stu

Re: surf lockright install can off worms found
I have an old RN46 hilux that ive re-powered with a lexus,
I recently bought a richmond gear set and a lockright to build up a spare diff i had, got the lockright fitted into the housing ok, then found i had to shim it up because the clearances for the side gears were too great, so pulled it apart again and put a .010in shim on each side, reassembled it, went to put the spider pin through, wouldnt fit!
so apart it came again, took the shims out, made some more measurements, put a .006in in each side, reassembled it again,
put the spider shaft in, it went through, cool.
re checked the clearance between the locking plates, still seems too much but other than getting stuff machined itl have to do?
Went to put the crown wheel etc on and assemble it into the housing, wouldnt fit, pinion height is too great!
not just too high, theres no way it will fit even with no shims under the pinion.
Found out i have one of the most odball diff housings toyota had ever made, its called the J angle bearing housing?
So i had to get another housing, a later one, so did that, got the correct bearing set for the later housing, went to assemble it,and low and behold the crownwheel wont fit either!!!!
Crownwheel is too wide?
Took the set back to where i got it, found out its for a 4 spider diff, got another gear set, italian made one.
Took it home and thank f@#k it fits!
Also found out im lucky i got a 4.8:1 housing, because only 4.8s fit 4.8 housings?
So i havnt road tested the vehicle yet, but have tested the diff the same way you did, hopefully its ok?
