just had a look back through this thread from the start and counted over 10 people who said they would help out where needed, now I understand that its probably the first fine weekend for quite a while and some of you would of been doing stuff at home and others had put in thier apologies, but it was a little annoying to not see many turn up and even more annoying to see others turn up with the other group using the area when they had earlier said they would help out where they could.
So now that I've had my little say, I had a good look today at the whole of Rallywoods in general and the tracks and after discussion with a few others we realised that we don't need to be cutting any more new tracks for now but tidying up the existing ones.
Now what I mainly mean by tidying up is that the edges needs cutting back and the canopy needs to be removed, this is even more necessary in places like Cruiser Drive and other so called "access tracks".
These tracks need to see lots of sunlight to help them keep dry and not get too cut up by folks driving over them in the wet and ripping big holes in them.
So this is advance notice that the next working bee I organise will be a cutting back exercise where the most important tools will be................
1, Scrub Bars walking the track trimming back the edges by half a metre or more.
2, Chainsaws being used by competent operators standing on the back of utes or even better rooves of vehicles to clear the canopy.
3, Manpower walking behind this procession clearing the tracks by throwing excess vegetation off the track.
would be nice if lots more folks turned up
remember if nobody turns up to help then you may as well forget about playing in Rallywoods coz the tracks will become impassable before too long
