Changing to 8" front diff

A question.....picked up a 8" (same ratio, but no axles) for my NH3.0Auto to get around the 'no locker' option. Any advice if I need the axels (inner and outer as well) or can my old one work (not sure about the spline sizes etc). I know I need a shortened drive shaft...Also I have a set of manual hubs to go on and am assuming these work with either the 7.25 or the 8"?

One late thought is to dump the idea and go for a Lokka (I believe they make one for the 7.25)....anyone run one (how do they work in the real world...slippery sidings etc) are they good or full of compromises that outweigh the beneits?
