Completion of 33's onto a terrano

Post by Dirtydog »

Hi guys after a very long wait i have finnaly done it.

I have put a 2" body lift, 2"sus lift, and put her on 33's

It wasnt too hard, not many problems with the radiator or the 4wd selector.

I did find out a few things in the process though, like most banks dont convert yen coins, which i found under the carpet of the old girl. about 30 bucks worth of yen in coins siting here now.

but back on topic,

i did have to lengthen the power sterring hose, mainly the one that goes from the reservoir to the power sterring box. there is a slight kink in the radiator hose, witch will be sorted when i get a new radiator, as i have found my ones cores have become brittle.

i also need to do a few things like replace a few of the old steering componants, and put a brace in, but mainly stuff that would have needed doing due to wear on old parts, rather than any of the mods.

she still runs well, a little bit slower on the old take off and a little more expensive on gas, but the speedo reads properly now.

without further delay, pics:

She started like this,

And now she looks like this:

No trimming as of yet:

When you go to a true 33" tyre like BFG (if you ever do of course) you will have to trim those guards, I can gaurantee it. Just watch those CV's and learn how to change them in the bush. Job well done cobber!

i gave my old terrano a 100 mm body lift and only had to extend fuel filler and steering shaft, but it did make changing the starter motor alot easier :lol and i still had to trim guards to stop the 33s from rubbing but it had no sway bars tho

Have a good look through my previous posts on here as I have done the body/suspension lift and fitted true 33's to my Terrano as well, with good explanations of what needs doing.
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

well done "Dirtydog" on your work.
I suspect you will indeed get rubbing on those tyres, especially in the front, when you are turning and strike a bump. I had my guards trimmed and I still get rubbing just turning into a carpark and driving over a speed hump! Looks like I need to bite the bullet and go from the 2" body lift to a 3" one. That'll mean another certification however.

Yea i dont get any guard rubbing, and when the backs at full flex thy sit very nicely in the old wheel well with about 5 mill on each side.

note that mine doesnt have mud flaps, it did give it more room.

I think i may need a new front diff though, but im generally not driving it around at the moment so it can wait till i can get a good one.

Does anyone know of an after market one with lockers that are stronger?

Me and my mate are going to fab up a new front bumper for her, probably out of some box section and piping, and im going to somehow join it to where the old skidplate sits.

cheers

Some more photos for your viewing pleasure:

Front clearance (yes i know i have 1 black rim and 3 white, but this one will be the spare when i get another white rim)

Rear clearance, Most of it is mud lol, but it does sit in their
nicely, and when im mudding the only rubbing i get is from the front when the steering is at full lock, due to it rubbing the suspension arm but i will probably need a bigger offset.

Hey man, as far as I know there is no after market locker for the front of a Terrano.

PM sibainmud

He has a Terrano too and he should be able to point you in the right direction.

hey cheers,

Ive put the mudstars on the front and now there is no rubbing at all. i have also broken a c.v boot, but that was probably due to it needing one due to wear.

im in the proccess of making flares for it.
