Hi. Not sure on the Navaras but with our Prado, the drums are held on by the calliper which on ours is just two bolts, the hand brake needs to be left off and the adjuster needs to be loosened. Hope this helps, but Toyota and Nissan are different :)

i don't think theres anything to unbolt, just back off the brakes (otherwise the lip grabs on the pads) and pull the hubs off. it should have two threaded holes so you can wind in bolts to push the drum off.

This is from the pathfinder manual I have for the 94 model, but it should be the same. I have included both drum and disc brakes here.

As always Pete, great answer.
how does the rear brake drum come off?

Simple,
Take wheel off, release handbrake, hit drum with hammer all around, then pull off. If it don't want to move, wind a couple of M8 bolts in the threaded holes in between opposite wheel studs.
This forces the drum off the wheel studs. Easy :D :D
Cheers.
