Re: too big? ur opinion
tractor tires are not road legal AFAIK or atleast have a very low speed rating.
phone Ross Bolus (secretary of the BOP club) He'll save you.
Re: too big? ur opinion
Are the acronyms really necessary Nathan??
Anyways there are speed rated ag tyres but thats not what hes asking. Whats the overall diameter of the tyres?? Tractor tyre size numbering system is usually different to normal cars/trucks.
One I have seen is a 285 75 16. Its almost a 33in i think which might be a bit big if they are like the zuks but other people may have a different opinion.
I've seen bush trucks running tractor type tyres and they go well. The tyres are usually hardish to fit to a vehicle and can be expensive or difficult to find it seems.

Re: too big? ur opinion
had 32s on my rugger no issues with power or diff etc breakage. truck was lifted tho so cant say for guard clearance
Re: too big? ur opinion
cheers for the replies,
on the tyres they say 285/80/16's, they are definitly bigger than normal 285's. i have a mate with zuki than ran them but keept smashn his little diffs/ axles and then gearbox.
they fit on with a bit of gental help from the sledge hamer. wil be doing the springs over diff soon so not a big concern they rub at moment.
the truk is only going to be a mudhack for the river.
some1 may have seen it before as it has an old "offroad expres sticka" its a black 90 rugger that had been rolled and then had a homemade cage in it when i got it for a grand.

Re: too big? ur opinion
its all good goin the tractor tyres, it sounds a bit of fun thinkin for mud you'd have to agree but when ya go out and start churnin up tracks and 'diggin' everywhere, another option may have well been to get a decent tyre and adjust ya driving lines or techniques a little?
(i understand simex and silverstones are similar in 'damage causing ability')
i'm not bitchin at ya so please dont get the wrong idea, i'm just hopin to preserve what limited access we have to places..
by all means, like rex at an aqua-aerobics session, go out, go hard, then go home..

Re: too big? ur opinion
lol, i hear you about ripping up tracks. we have a secluded spot next to the river where we have made our own tracks.

about price, the local tyre shop was pleased to see the back of 3 used sets (free), put tubes in and they went straight on to zuki 16x8" steeles.
theres a dvd just been made about paddock hacks by white balance productions. theres a little bit on 4x4ing down at the local river that features 1 of my mates zuki truck - mayb worth look if u ever c a copy floating around

285/80/16's are almost 35's. They got big sidewalls on em.
With tractor type tyres you often don't have to spin the crap out of them to clear and the ones i've seen do less damage than simex's

Re: too big? ur opinion
lol. where i live there are agricutural spray trucks that run these tyres. they get chewed up prety fast on the road so they have to replace them for wof's. They may be scarce in the biger towns but maybe u can ring round the rural tyre shops in driving distance. Just took to them wif the grinder to beef them up alittle and they defintly power thru the mud. aparently cost 750 each new

Re: too big? ur opinion
Host them on somwhere like photobucket and copy the link to here.
And yeah your right about the prices of those tyres. Some are even more than that. When I looked into em I thought maybe they would be similar to creepys or simexs but no I was way off

if you copy the img link instead the picture will show on this page.
Re: too big? ur opinion
search for how to do it.
You needa host em
Resize em
copy the link from photobucket that has img either side of it and it should work.
ore has the img option too to click if the links you have don't have the [img] either end.
Preview it to see if it works.

Re: too big? ur opinion
Yea they look like the radial Kleber tyre. they come in two sizes 265 and 285,
We ran the 285 on the hilux but they are a bit smaller than a 33, they are 285/70/16 rather than the norm 285/75/16.
Fantiastic in the paddock, don't make a mess as a hilux simply can't spin them.
