Boo.

Noob to ORE, bit of a NOOB to 4wd in general. Just got myself a SWB 70, now have to start fixing it / breaking it / fixing it etc.....

Any advice on which club to join would be appreciated!

Welcome to the crazy place that is .. here

Kiwi4x4.org.nz is a good starting place for a national club with outings etc. There is a pretty active bunch in Wellington on this site. You could also check out CCVC and a bundle of others http://nzfwda.org.nz/ for a list
