Gidday Mate  sorry couldn't resist

I'd ditch the zuk box and go over to a W or G series 5 speed lux box, your truck would be so light you wouldn't need anything heavyer
They are also easy enough to get adapters or bellhousings for (just run a search on trademe) just cost a bit is all (still less than a custom bellhousing!)

would use toyota diffs as there already sittin in the shed
whats the easiest/cheapest way to mount the diffs?

Are you looking at road legal or not ?? as leaf springs would be the easyest to get legal... they've tightened Low Vol Cert on coil linkage systems  if not go the coils

If you go ahead with this :D lots of pic's !!

Anything is possible. Just add time & money.

A whole new drivetrain is definitely required, a gbox-tcase out of a 3 litre turbo hilux or surf with an adapter is the best solution. Leaf springs would be easy but on such a light vehicle with so much power you would have big issues controlling axle tramp & retaining enough flexibility. Coils are the ideal.

A big project, especially if it's gunna be road legal but would be a very cool rig if done right. I think the weight would probably be in the 1400 - 1500kg range. I was thinking about doing the same thing but I couldn't find a decent body & chassis at the right price so I went for the Prado Cruiser which already has decent diffs, brakes, gbox, tcase, suspension to build off.

How would i use coils legally?

i got my sj410 for free it was my dads.

Cheers.
Adam.

Yep, theres also somebody on there who has made up a custom bellhousing but its $500 :(

The issue with coils is they have just changed the rules in the "Low Volume Cert" and made it tougher to do  I haven't looked at it too much yet as I'm working on other problems, basicly they've decided that linkages have to be solid... no welds
I've only glanced at it and it would help if they wrote the blastard rule books in english instead of this "legal'es"

Have a chat with Steve(supralux) I remember him complaining about this, somewhere else onsite so its my guess he's a bit more clued up

Cheers Reece

prado auto bolts straight up, as for coils, use factory ones, on my hilux we used prado front arms, safari panhard rods and in the back we used safari arms, making your own is way cooler but 10 times more difficult to get certified

they changed the steering rules too no welded parts on high pressure side but factory welds are accepted so look for long arms off a standard vehicle i think nissan or isuzu have long arms on coily ones :D :D

Just 1 more Q
